OABMG Conference

Kassam Stadium, Grenoble Road, Oxford, OX4 4XP

Sponsored By Whitley Stimpson
Member Cost: £50
Non-member Cost: £65

Following last year's hugely successful inaugural Oxfordshire Academies Business Managers Conference, we will be holding a second conference on 5th March 2019 at the Kassam Stadium, Oxford.

We had an excellent response from delegates with an overwhelming number saying it was excellent value for money, that they would recommend the conference to colleagues and that there was a good mix of academies, MATs and maintained schools. In addition the price level meant that more than one person from their school could benefit from attending.

For this reason, we have kept the price of a ticket to £65 for non members and £50 for members, which, again, represents excellent value for money and underlines the fact that this is a not for profit event. In addition, we want to make sure that delegates are able to meet with, and learn from, experts and peers; and have the opportunity to input into discussions.

This year, again we have some first class speakers covering a wide range of topics including Governance, the changing role of the SBM, Procurement, Estate Management and MAT development. Our aim is to appeal to a broad range of disciplines across a variety of job roles.

We are delighted to have two excellent keynote speakers again this year:

Felicity Aston,
British polar explorer Felicity Aston MBE is an author, speaker, expedition leader and former Antarctic scientist. In 2012 she became the first woman to ski alone across Antarctica.

Martin Post
, Regional Schools Commissioner, North-West London and South Central England. As Regional Schools Commissioner for NWLSC, Martin is responsible for making decisions about the academies and free schools in 27 local authorities. Before his appointment, Martin was Headmaster of Watford Grammar School for Boys for 14 years.

Breakout sessions will be led by:

  • Katie Paxton-Doggett, Vice Chair of the National Governance Association
  • Lorraine Ashover, Minerva Procurement Consultancy Services
  • Rachael Warwick, Executive Head Teacher of Ridgeway Education Trust and Vice President of ASCL
  • Matthew Clements-Wheeler - Deputy Head and SBM, Bordesley Green Girls School and Sixth Form
  • Sue Webb - Executive Consultant, Values Based Education
  • Neil Limbrick - Founder, the Education Collective
  • Julia Harden - ASCL Funding Specialist
  • Richard Thorpe - Partner, Ridge and Partners
  • Anne Lynn - Chief Operations Officer, Faringdon Academy of Schools

We have also introduced an expert panel session at the end of the day to encourage debate and we will be inviting questions prior to the event - as well as people being able to contribute on the day. You can sign up to the conference here - or contact rhian@minervapcs.com
